HER BAD HABIT "I Dont Know (What Youre Doing To Me)" Citinite Records

http://www.citinite.com

Review from WARPMART:

Really fantastic five track ep from Jimmy Edgar with Bunny Jones on vocals on a couple of tracks here. Following the Citinite ethos, this is top notch electro funk, music that infuses electro and techno, early house, Prince and Parliament influences in equal doses all with a healthy and sophisticated futuristic sheen.

On some of the tracks here there is more 'real' instrumentation than on his album for Warp, a touch of slap bass that doesn't feel out of place, lots of keyboard sounds that remind of early Prince or Dr Dre's G-Funk productions, but brought up to date in a very tidy fashion.

Review from BOOMKAT:

Jimmy Edgar makes a butter funkin' return under new alias 'Her Bad Habit' with a smoke obscured neon electro funk sound for the ace Citinite imprint. The styles are set to purely 80's electro sleazin, with gasping synths, slapped arse bass and a wholly unholy vibe over the six tracks on offer. Thankfully Mr Edgar has matured somewhat since his earlier and freakier electrofunk trips for Merck and Warp, and coagulated his sound into a thick and slick slice of late night dancefloor gratification that references Prince, Drexciya, Zapp and many more influences in the finest style. Ace.

Affiliations with new mysterious label Noir Push leans towards new side projects and unreleased material "leaking."

Noir Push Recordings Myspace

Currently,X District has been unveiled online. This is Jimmy's first digital-only release.

X District Myspace

It is described as some of the darkest, R&B-esque, sleaze electro to be displayed this year.

"Which started out as an accidental exchange of cryptic and symbolic writings between Jimmy and Laura, ended up as the "Color Correction" MAXI-Single on Noir Push Recordings.

Laura Clarke, a new mysterious figure who contributes muse and slack, laid back words to the mix; has taken her ideas and made them obscure stories over the tracks of Warp Records recording artist Jimmy Edgar."

In other news, Her Bad Habit is approaching a release on CITINITE... second best label in the world right now. Famous for massaging the rare John Davis material.

As for Jimmy Edgar and his own material, he has reported a new album..its "near finished" and will be completed "when Mercury Retrograde leaves seductive Scorpio"

Black Affair "Pleasure Pressure Point"

Having already released one solo album as King Biscuit Time last year (Black Gold), following the demise of The Beta Band, Steve Mason is now onto his second project as Black Affair and he's already completed his first album under the new alias.

According to Mason, the LP was mixed by Jimmy Edgar (who released last year's brilliant Color Strip album) and it will be released on V2, who he just signed a three album deal with. Before the currently-untitled album drops, there will be at least 2 singles / downloads released.

Speaking of the new material, Steve Mason says the album is "12 tracks of Pop Music you can move with." He also goes on to say, "It sounds incredible. The best record I have ever made."

As we speak, four demo songs are currently being streamed on the Black Affair MySpace page - including the track Same Same, which is a collaboration with up-and-coming London rapper MissOddKidd.
